Kevin is an artist born and raised in Eastern North Carolina (Elizabeth City), he is a graphic designer with experience working in the imprinted sportswear industry in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. In recent years he has had the opportunity to rediscover traditional techniques in painting.

 

By questioning the concept of movement, he presents everyday objects as well as references to music, landmarks and architecture. As a painter, Kevin is known for his paintings depicting jazz, blues, and rock musicians of both the past and the present. He works primarily in acrylics, using bright bold colors and texture exploring movement, light, color, and the environment. The energy of a place or person and its emotional and spiritual vibrations are always important. His works isolate the movements of humans and/or objects. By doing so, new sequences are created which reveal an inseparable relationship between color, motion and sound. Kevin Rogerson currently lives and works in Columbus, NC.

I have a passion for rich, bold colors, texture and the effects of light and shadow of everything that is. Art is life; life is art. Life provides the inspiration; art provides the expression. Each medium, is a vehicle for expressing how I “see” and “feel” about the world that I live in, whether it is a jazz club, or a birch tree found along a rugged trail, or an old weathered building. My work is always closely connected with the forms of life around me, experiences, observations, forms, and colors.
